Welcome
to the City of North English Web site. Our site is designed for residents,
businesses, and online users to communicate and provide up-to-date
information. Located
in East-Central Iowa, North English is a great place to live, work, and
raise families. With a population of 991, North English is within
commuting distance to Iowa City and The University of Iowa.
We boast some of the most affordable housing and land values in the
State of Iowa. The
English Valleys School District provides area students with a well-rounded
education and preparation for college and university entrance. Our community life, organizations and churches support a family
environment, Midwestern values and a strong work ethic.
North English is surrounded by a strong farming community in Iowa
and Keokuk counties. In June 2004, North English celebrated its sesquicentennial. Founded in 1854, North English is proud of its history and settlement as a prairie town. Our Celebration Days! will take place this year, June 24 -26, 2005. On behalf of myself and City Council, we hope you find our website informative and interesting. Mayor Dan Strohman |
